Monsignor Matthew J. Casey Scholarship
SCHOLARSHIP INSTRUCTIONS
The Holy Name Society of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish, Hampton, NH, has established a scholarship to honor the founding pastor of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish.
The Right Reverend Monsignor Casey, during his service in the Parish, made it possible for many deserving students to attend an institution of higher learning. His interest in the youth of the Parish and his dedication to the residents of the Town of Hampton, makes this scholarship in his name a fitting tribute.
Any graduating 8th grader (boy or girl) who is a registered parishioner of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish, which includes St. Elizabeth Church, and who plans to enter a Catholic high school, shall be eligible to compete for one or more scholarships awarded annually by the Holy Name Society.
The Scholarship Committee has the authority to award the scholarship money in the form of one or more grants annually. The sum to be awarded will be announced annually.
This scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of need, character, scholarship and leadership within the school, church and community.
The candidate will be chosen on the following basis:
| A | Need | 50% | Actual need of financial assistance to continue education at a Catholic high school. |
| B | Character | 20% | High standards of conduct; strength of character; adherence to truth and conscience, church and daily duties. |
| C | Scholarship | 20% | Scholastic achievement and evidence of industry and application to studies. |
| D | Leadership | 10% | Involvement in extracurricular activities and community affairs. |
Whereas financial need is an important criterion in the selection of recipients for awards, applicants should apply for financial aid at the high school they plan to attend.
